Mahershala Ali in Talks to Be Lead in True Detective Season 3
Oscar-winning star of Moonlight Mahershala Ali is rumoured to be in contention for the lead role in True Detective Season 3.
Ali first made his name on the small screen via House of Cards and now, according to Empire, he’s in early talks to join the third season of the now much-maligned True Detective.
After a successful first season, the HBO crime anthology series created by Nic Pizzolatto, suffering a critical drubbing following a disappointing second season. However, work on the third season has been quietly gathering pace - with NYPD Blue and Deadwood man David Milch stepping aboard to offer the benefit of his experience in both cop series and HBO shows.
Though nothing official has been confirmed by HBO, even a rumour does seem to suggest that development is moving forward. Here’s hoping that HBO can recaptured the beguiling intensity of that first season.
