Nat Wolff, the rising star of Paper Towns, is in negotiations to star in Death Note, Warner Bros. adaptation of the horror manga series.

Adam Wingard, director of indie gems You’re Next and The Guest, is making his big studio debut with the project, with Fantastic Four writer Jeremy Slater penning the latest draft.

The series centres on a student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name. He then decides to cleanse the world of those he deems evil. As the student is tracked by a reclusive police officer, a cat-and-mouse game ensues.

Wolff has made his name appearing in YA fair such as Paper Towns, The Fault in Our Stars and Fox’s adaptation of the John Green young adult sensation.

The actor also currently can be seen onscreen in two films: Grandma, the Paul Weitz-directed drama starring Lily Tomlin, and The Intern, Nancy Meyers’ workplace comedy starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro.
