The smart business decision of the day goes to 2K and Firaxis Games, who've today confirmed that XCOM 2 will now arrive on February 5th, 2016.
XCOM 2 was originally anticipated to arrive this November, a month packed with big titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Black Ops 3, Need For Speed, Fallout 4, & Star Wars: Battlefront, games that could have easily covered any attention the game deserved. Financially speaking, it may be the best move to delay the game to a month where our wallets have recovered from the fall season and the game can get the coverage it needs.
The developers released this statement along with the delay:
“We've set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown. We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game, with XCOM 2, we want to have more depth, more re-playability, and more investment in your soldiers and this extension will give us the time we need to deliver on our promise to you.”
Perhaps the next best move 2K can make now is to announce the game for consoles; currently XCOM 2 is confirmed to come only to PC.
