The fight is far from over on Xbox One... Halo 3: ODST is joining Halo: The Master Chief Collection next month.

Today, if you boot up your Xbox One and turn on Halo: The Master Chief Collection, you'll find a 1.6GB patch waiting for you which addresses general gameplay and UI stability, as well as new ranked playlists, but best of all is this message from 343 Industries at the bottom of the patch notes:

"We’re excited about the progress of the Relic multiplayer map remake and the Campaign for Halo 3: ODST, both of which are on track to release within Halo: The Master Chief Collection next month with our next content update."

The game, remastered for Microsoft's newest console will be available at no cost to anyone who played Halo: The Master Chief Collection between its release and December 19, 2014. As to how much it'll cost otherwise is unknown at this time...

Halo 3: ODST lets you experience the events leading up to the epic story told in Halo 3 through the eyes of entirely new characters: The ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers), as they search for clues leading to the whereabouts of their scattered squad and the motivations behind the Covenant's invasion of New Mombasa.

So, are you excited to get back into Halo?
