The Predator Remake To Be R-Rated, Credits Deadpool For Making R 'Palatable To Execs'

Director Shane Black has revealed they won't be pulling punches or bankrupting production with swear jars in the remake of The Predator, because it's going R-Rated.

Black actually credits the big hit of Deadpool for finally twisting the arm of movie studio big wigs into accepting there's plenty of box office green to be earned by going for that R-rating, and not sticking with the family-friendly swamp of PG-13.

"I made it a condition of directing The Predator that it has to be the same rating as the first one, which was R," movie director Shane Black told Screen Rant.

"We probably could have gotten more money to do it as PG-13. But I actually think that although that seems like good logic, you're shooting yourself in the foot. I don't think the fans want a PG-13 Predator." No, they do not, Mr. Black.

"Before Deadpool, everyone was saying exactly the opposite," he continued. "It's only been recently that this sort of thing has become more palatable to the decision makers."

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the star of the original cult classic, is said to be in talks to reprise his role of Major Alan 'Dutch' Schaefer. Apparently rapper and actor 50 Cent is also said to be lined-up for a role. Shooting of the R-rated film will begin this autumn, with release due in 2018. Remember your Predator survival training everyone: 'Run! Get to the chopper!'
