Dwayne Johnson's Jungle Cruise Movie to Shoot Next Year

Because you can’t let Johnny Depp and the Pirates of the Caribbean have all the fun, Dwayne Johnson and Disney are moving forward with the long-delayed Jungle Cruise movie.

The movie, which will shoot next year, has capsized a number of times. This take on a Jungle Cruise film was re-envisioned in 2011 as a live-action reunion for Toy Story's Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.

Then in August 2015, Johnson came aboard with the Focus team of John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, who would re-write the script for more of a period setting than the original modern-day plan.

Since then, there have been numerous redrafts with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay working on the most recent draft and no idea of what the movie might hold in store beyond the obvious concept of a cruise going badly for our hero.

Then there’s the small matter of Johnson's packed schedule which as well as this year’s Baywatch includes Jumanji 2, Rampage and then segues to Skyscraper later in the year.A spring 2018 shooting date should give Johnson and his regular producing partner Dany Garcia enough time to find a suitable director.
