Drew Goddard Writing and Directing X-Force Movie
Drew Goddard will reunite Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Cable (Josh Brolin) when he brings X-Force to the big screen.
Goddard, who has had something of a mix bag when it comes to superhero franchises – he had success with Netflix/Marvel series Daredevil, and disappointment with the cancellation of the Sinister Six movie – will write and direct the movie with Ryan Reynolds both producing and starring, regular X-producer Simon Kinberg, and fellow franchise overseer Laura Shuler Donner all involved.
X-Force will find the Merc with a Mouth and his fellow mutant leading a black ops group of mutants who specialise in the kind of wet work that Professor X would frown upon.
A previous draft was written by Jeff Wadlow but Goddard has likely started afresh. The X-Force joins the ever-expanding mutant universe: X-Men: New Mutants has finished shooting, Deadpool 2 is in progress (featuring the introduction of Brolin's character) and, for the main series, Kinberg stepping up to direct X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
