Introversion Software's take on the correctional industry with Prison Architect is expanding its justice programme to console this spring as they announce versions for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the older but still shifty-looking Xbox 360.

"Myself, Chris Delay and the rest of the team have spent more than five years with the community making Prison Architect what it is today and we’re grateful for all the support we’ve had along the way," said managing director Mark Morris. "The decision to bring the game to new platforms and finding a partner was no easy one. Enter Double Eleven, who have a demonstrated a wonderful track record in taking a known game and really making it their own. Double Eleven approached us with their ideas for the game both as a publisher and developer and we were really excited about where they wanted to take it.”

Prison Architect had been in Early Access for a long time where sales for the alpha version already made it a huge success for the small independent developer. Since achieving full release last year the game has been updated with an all-new feature to run female prisons with new mechanics and considerations, such as nurseries.

The console versions will support pre-made prison complexes and being able to share those created over Xbox Live and PSN.

Prison Architect releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 this spring.
