Road House Remake Finds Director

Road House – mullets, power drinkers and the Zen master Patrick Swayze – it’s an 80’s classic and now because ‘nobody ever wins a fight’ it’s being remade – and it may soon have its director.

Getting ready to sweep up the eyeballs at the Double Deuce, Nick Cassavetes will write and direct the remake staring UFC badass-turned actor Ronda Rousey.

You might think that previous gigs directing action-heavy fare like John Q or Alpha Dog might give us some clue as to where he’ll take Road House but, as Variety claims, it’s his work on The Other Woman and The Notebook that landed him the gig.

‘Strong female characters’ are the order of the day but it still seems a little left-field to think the man that made The Notebook will be handling Road House. Here’s hoping it’s an inspired choice.

What isn’t under doubt it Rousey herself – she’ll nail it and apparently sought approval from Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, to get her blessing, which she received.

The studio has Road House on a fast track, with production penciled in for some time next year.
