Alice: Asylum 'Proposal' From Creator American McGee

Interesting news for fans of American McGee's Alice series as the game's creator has begun work "on a proposal for the next chapter" called Alice: Asylum.

Whether this will ever see the light of day as a game is a whole other matter as published Electronic Arts owns the rights to the weird and twisted world of Alice. The proposal will include "artwork, design outline, and financial/business model." American McGee is certainly serious about it at least, having fans pester him for a sequel for years; it has a cult following.

"Let’s show EA how many people want a new Alice game!" blogged American McGee.

First released under the title American McGee's Alice in 2000 for PC and Mac, before coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 over a decade later, it tells the tale of a young girl caught in a rather more macabre version of Wonderland. Alice witnesses the devastating fire that consumed her home and family and loses her grip on reality where she's committed to Rutledge Asylum where her only companion is a stuffed rabbit.

Alice: Madness Returns was released in 2011 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Things get even more twisted in the sequel as Alice comes to learn the truth behind the fire and of a great evil lurking in the real world threatening the existence of Wonderland and her memories.

Alice: Asylum would suggest poor Alice is likely heading back to a mental institution if American McGee's proposal reflects its working title.
