Just when you thought it was safe to go back to camp, looks who’s back from the dead…again…And this time, he’s lost his director.

David Bruckner is no longer attached to helm the next Friday The 13th, as the writer of Prisoners is drafted in.

Following Paramount’s delay on production until 2017, the burgeoning film series has had a personnel reshuffle with The Signal's David Bruckner, being released from his contract as the script undergoes a further rewrite.

Paramount and Platinum Dunes reportedly felt it'd be unfair to keep him hanging around while a new draft was penned.

Meanwhile, the person hired to pen a new screenplay? That'd be Aaron Guzikowski. He previously wrote Prisoners and Contraband, and is also working on one of Universal's upcoming classic monster films.

It's likely that, once the script is complete, Bruckner will again be offered the opportunity to direct it.
