New Need For Speed Reveals June 2nd, Offline Single-Player

EA has teased with an image the new upcoming Need for Speed, which is due out later this year. They also confirm it will be truly single-player again.

The last Need for Speed from developer Ghost Games was criticised for its insistence on being always-online, despite not having much reason to be. This meant even if you enjoyed the solitary racing lifestyle you were at the mercy of the Internet.

"...when release day rolls around for the next Need for Speed, you will be able to play through a single player experience completely offline. Before you ask, and we know you will, this does mean you will be able to pause the game," blogged the studio.

Now you can play real single-player again as the always-on requirement is scrapped and that also means you can pause the game. What an age we live in! More details will be spilled by Ghost Games and EA at the EA PLAY event in June, just before E3 2017.

The new untitled Need for Speed releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later in 2017.
