Netflix Renew House Of Cards For Season 5, Creator And Showrunner Departs
We haven't gotten to season 4 yet but Netflix has already pledged a fifth season for House of Cards, starring Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood. It is also revealed that creator and showrunner Beau Willimon is leaving the team.
"Netflix and [House of Cards production company] MRC owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Beau Willimon for his strong narrative vision for House of Cards over the show's first four seasons," said Netflix in a statement. "As an Academy Award-nominated writer, he made his first foray into television and built a riveting and critically acclaimed series, establishing his place in TV history. The producers, cast, and crew join us in wishing Beau the best in his next creative adventure."
Willimon has himself said he's "supremely proud" of the political drama, and leaves it "in the hands of a very capable team."
House of Cards season 4 begins on Netflix March 4th, 2016.
