Wargaming Bringing Back Classic Turn-Based Strategy Master of Orion

Master of Orion is a classic turn-based strategy game that hasn't seen a sequel since 2003's release of Master of Orion 3, although thanks to World of Tanks publisher Wargaming.net, we'll see a new revamped version with better graphics and refocused gameplay.

Wargaming acquired the rights to Master of Orion back in 2013 when Atari sold a lot of its IP in a bankruptcy auction. Little was said about what Wargaming was going to do with the IP up until now, with the publisher bringing on Argentinian-based NGD Studios to create the reboot with key members of the original development team.

"Master of Orion is a game that brings Wargaming truly back to its roots, not only as a company but also in how it influenced my personal interest in both games and making them," said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming. "The series' iconic gameplay has stood the test of time and working with NGD Studios to bring the series back to life is a truly exciting moment for the team."

With Master of Orion players can expect to see a completely new user interface, tutorials, voiceovers from well-known actors and an orchestral score from the original composer for the series.

There's no word on a release date yet, but we expect Master of Orion to be released sometime in 2016. Keep yourself posted by following our product page.
