Justin Lin Will Direct Space Jam 2

Throw your hands in the air if you feelfine, they’re gonna take it into overtime, Welcome to the Space Jam…2.

That’s right it looks like all our FoghornLeghorns have come home to roost as The Hollywood Reporter erh…reports that onceJustin Lin has finished his stint with the federation on Star Trek Beyond, he
could very well be shooting a sequel to Warner Bros not so fondly remember
Looney Tunes/Baseketball mash ‘em up, Space Jam 2 featuring basketball star
LeBron James.

Rumours about this one have been knockingaround since last year when James’ company SpringHill Entertainment locked down
a deal with Warners, and the player-turned-actor began tweeting not so cryptic
mentions of Space Jam.

It's also not that much of a surprise,
since James has often been compared to Michael Jordan, who was the rather
flimsy anchor for the 1996 film in which he used his basketball talents to help
a variety of Looney Tunes characters battle aliens because of course he did.

The first film earned $230.4 million
worldwide.

The script, which is being written by
fellow Fast & Furious alum Andrew Dodge along with Alfredo Botello, is
still in development but they’ll be no points for guessing that it’ll probably
feature basketball and at least some of more well known Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck – it remains to be seen if the Moron
Mountain lot will make a reappearance.

James hasn't had much experience in front
of the camera, but he did impress in last year's Trainwreck, earning praise for
holding his own in comedy scenes alongside the likes of Bill Hader and Amy
Schumer.

Star Trek Beyond, meanwhile, will arrive onUK screens on July 22.
