After the initial shock and then an outpouring of support for the recently cancelled Wachowskis’ series Sense8 has been revived by Netflix for a one-off two-hour special to cap the series curtailed storyline.
Despite reports that talks were ongoing with the cast, a third series was abruptly cancelled with Netflix explaining that the cost and the relative cult status of the show had counted against it.
Sense8 follows the lives of eight individuals around the world who are mentally linked in their sensate cluster. The main cluster of the series is made up of an incredibly diverse roster of characters, and fans around the world will now get the chance to say a final goodbye to the sensates.
The official Sense8 Twitter account posted a letter signed by co-creator Lana Wachowski announcing the series will return for a two-hour series finale that is expected to debut sometime in 2018.
Perhaps more enticingly, the letter leaves open the possibility for more episodes too. However, until anything is made official, fans of Sense8 have at least two more hours to spend with their favorite sensates.
