Sherlock Creators to Adapt Dracula For The BBC
Sherlock creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat are to turn their attention to the prince of darkness himself, Dracula in a new BBC mini-series.
With a new series of Sherlock a long, long way away and Moffat’s six season tenure as the show runner for Doctor Who coming to an end, the powerful pair have, according to Variety, been tapped to adapt Bram Stoker’s classic Gothic horror novel of 1897 into a contemporary miniseries for the BBC.
The two showrunners will write the Dracula miniseries in collaboration with producer Sue Vertue of Hartwood Films.
Other than the exciting announcement, little else is known about the production at the time of writing – including who will play the titular Count – but judging by the exemplar work the pair have done with Sherlock, it’s certainly going to develop into something rather special.
