Elite: Dangerous and RollerCoaster Tycoon madhouse Frontier Developments will be unleashing the 'spiritual successor' Planet Coaster this mid-November.

Atari still controls the RollerCoaster Tycoon IP but that hasn't stopped Frontier getting back to what they do best: theme park building. Under the new franchise of Planet Coaster the British development studio is going all-out on park design and management.

It's currently available to play now in Alpha form if you buy through the official Frontier store, but sales of the Alpha build will stop by August 25th. It's the same day pre-purchases will start on Steam.

"Early Bird players can experience Planet Coaster today with Alpha access. Alpha access is currently available exclusively on the Frontier Store until 25 August, when Alpha access will be closed to all new customers."

One of the big new features in Planet Coaster over Frontier's classic RCT series is the huge emphasis now on crowds, and especially how they interact and 'flow' around one another. Families and friends can stick together as they visit your parks.

Terrain sculpting and a very modular approach to rides, attractions and props are the other big-time features for Frontier. They want to give fans the most powerful tools yet to create the park of our dreams.

Planet Coaster releases on PC November 17th, 2016.
