Natalie Portman Enters Area X in Teaser Trailer for Annihilation
Having wowed audiences with his sci-fi tinged directorial debut, Ex Machina, Alex Garland is back in sci-fi territory with Annihilation – now here’s the first teaser trailer.
Based on Jeff VanderMeer's book, the film chronicles an expedition into a mysterious, remote and sealed-off zone know, rather menacingly as Area X. For over three decades, Area X has been labelled as off-bounds by the government despite all appearances to the contrary. During those 30 years, a group known as the Southern Reach has monitored Area X and sent in expeditions to try and discover the truth. What is happening in the zone? What is the true nature of the invisible border that surrounds it?
Natalie Portman plays a biologist looking for answers to her husband’s disappearance as part of an earlier expedition – she and her party soon discover that all is not what it seems in a blend of the bizarre and the humane.
Co-starring Oscar Isaac, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez and Tessa Thompson Annihilation will hit cinemas on February 23, 2018.
