The upcoming real-time strategy sequel Halo Wars 2 has achieved 'Gold status', announces 343 Industries. A Beta goes live on PC and Xbox One this week.
This has confirmed the mid-February release date for the RTS set in the Halo universe. The sequel has been helped out by Total War creator Creative Assembly. Brutal warfare never looked so good and we'll be facing a "terrifying new enemy".
The sequel is set 28 years after the original Halo Wars game in the year 2559, which is shortly after Halo 5: Guardians. Halo Wars concluded with the UNSC warship Spirit of Fire drifting with its crew in cyrosleep, and was presumed lost. It awakens with Captain James Cutter learning what has happened after 28 years.
The Open Beta for Halo Wars 2 begins this week running from January 20-30 on both PC and Xbox One.
Halo Wars 2 releases on PC and Xbox One February 21st, 2017.
