Alien: Covenant just got an awesome new poster and a brand-new release date.

Coming with a delightfully creepy tagline ‘run’ the poster, which features a very familiar face, also revealed another shock, the release date has been brought forward to May 2017 or to be more precise May 19, 2017, shifting from its previously announced Aug. 4, 2017 date.

Covenant will now open against Warner Bros.' horror sequel Annabelle 2 and Paramount's Baywatch reboot, starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film will feature Noomi Rapace, reprising her role as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw from the 2012 prequel Prometheus.  Rapace will be joined by franchise newcomers Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride. Her Prometheus co-star Michael Fassbender is returning as the android David in the 20th Century Fox film.

The poster also cements what the title already hinted at; while Covenant began life as a sequel to Prometheus, it has been reshaped to benefit from the success of the beloved Alien franchise Scott created with the original 1979 film.

An official synopsis released by the studio last November explicitly called the film the second chapter in an Alien prequel trilogy, with the colony ship Covenant discovering a paradise world on the far side of the galaxy, only to learn it's a dangerous world whose only inhabitant is the synthetic David.

Alien: Covenant will hit cinemas on May 19, 2017.
