24: Legacy to go ahead without Jack Bauer

Damn it Chloe!

The following takes place without Jack Bauer as Fox moves forward with a Kiefer Sutherland free new series of 24.

24: Legacy will pick up the baton with an all-new cast of characters, although the key triumvirate of Howard Gordon, Manny Koto and Evan Katz will remain behind the scenes. Brian Grazer will executive produce, and while Kiefer Sutherland won't appear in front of the cameras, there's some thought that he might be "creatively involved" somehow.

Stepping into Jack’s very bloody, dirty boots will be Eric Carter, an African American military hero in his 20s, who returns to the US after his so-far-unspecified deployment and finds that trouble has followed him home.

The female lead is a veteran former head of the show's fictional Counter Terrorist Unit. In asking the CTU to help solve his own problem, he in turn aids them in stopping a large-scale terrorist assault on the US. The ticking clock format, with each episode representing an hour of a single day, will remain.

Coto and Katz wrote the script for the pilot episode which will be directed by Stephen Hopkins (Predator 2), who helmed half of the first series of 24 including the original pilot, will be back to kick off proceedings too.
