Disney's Next Live Action Makeover To Be Pinocchio

In a bid to apparently sprinkle magic dust over your favourite childhood movies and make the feel that much more real, Disney have decided to go ahead and finally make Pinocchio a real boy.

The news that Disney are throwing the live action treatment at Pinocchio could be considered less of a surprise and more of another box ticked in the list of disney features. In recent years, Disney has seen fit to greenlight a number of these products, such as Maleficent, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book. It seems that it won't be long before Disney's entire back catalogue of animated features are remade as live action movies, and I for one and looking forward to watching each and every one of them.

Pinocchio, for those of you who skipped the film, is based on a 19th century story by Italian author Carlo Collodi and follows the story of a wooden puppet carved by Geppetto and brought to life by the blue fairy. Pinocchio would much prefer to be a real boy than a puppet and the blue fairy ensures him he can be if he is "brave, truthful, and unselfish" .Pinocchio proceeds to fail at this task as he is lead astray by a number of unsavoury individuals. Most people mainly remember him for the fact that his nose will grow whenever he lies. He is also remembered for making your brain hurt when you try to work out what would happen if he said "My nose will grow".

Pinocchio will apparently be written by Peter Hedges (About a Boy) and we will keep you updated with any more information about the project.
