Lionsgate Has 'Sicario' Sequel In The Works
The first film is even out yet but Lionsgate is eager for a sequel to Sicario with the focus switching to Benicio Del Toro's character Alejandro, an "enigmatic consultant with a questionable past" that happens to include assassinations.
Writer Taylor Sheridan is already overseeing the sequel's development and the first film's director, Denis Villeneuve, will be involved in the next. Sicario stars Emily Blunt as an idealistic FBI agent involved in a new task force assigned to the US-Mexico drug war, and she's helped by the 'shady consultant' to get results.
Sicario will be in cinema September 18th in the US to limited release, then nation-wide October 2nd, and October 8th in the UK.
