If you like your kingdoms to be grand then Grand Kingdom might do something for you, especially if you hunger for tactical JRPG adventuring in a Grand Kingdom.
NIS America is bringing this JRPG to English speaking territories in June this year but you needn't wait that long as an exclusive beta will be running next month on the PlayStation 4. What's more all that hard work tactically RPG'ing won't go to waste as saves carry over.
Grand Kingdoms is set in a fantasy medieval world where four nations are having it out for who gets to be the biggest cheese of all. We play a mercenary leader who's a total newbie in the profession but as luck would have it we get involved in a continent-wide incident.
"We’ll start sending out codes to download the beta on 3rd May and it will last for one week. The servers will be shutting down in the wee hours of the morning on 10th May," reveals the FAQ on PlayStation.Blog.
To get into the beta you need to fill out a registration form on the official Grand Kingdom website. Four classes and two quests are available from the single-player campaign in the beta, but there's also three multiplayer battles to join each day.
Grand Kingdom features a "pretty big component" they refer to as an online war where players choose which nation they pledge their mercenary alliegance to. "Everything from voting on battle strategies and developing defences and weaponry to jumping into the nitty-gritty of laying waste to an enemy squad," explains the FAQ.
While the online war scenario will be reset once the beta ends, single-player campaign saves will be preserved and can carry over once the full game launches. That means beta participants can take their money and party members with them after May 10th.
The Grand Kingdom beta is exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and no, save games don't cross-over to Vita, but the online war is cross-platform between PS4 and Vita.
