Pacific Rim 2 'Delayed Indefinitely' By Universal
Universal Pictures has pulled Pacific Rim 2 from its release calendar meaning there's currently no time pressure to start production on the sequel. This extra time will ensure it's "the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves.”
Both Universal and Legendary Entertainment have made the decision with reports earlier that the entire project had been scrapped, which led to director Guillermo del Toro responding that he's working on the script. Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman are expected to reprise their roles in the humanity/robot versus alien action movie.
The sequel has been named Pacific Rim: Maelstrom and was expected by August 2017.
