Resident Evil 0, the story that reveals the truth behind the Mansion Incident, the catalyst for the entire storyline of the Resident Evil series, has officially been remastered. This version takes the story and gameplay of the original and adds stunning HD graphics, 5.1 channel surround sound, optional modernized controls, and widescreen TV compatibility.

The PlayStation 4 version currently has a 72 out of 100 Metascore based on 16 critical reviews.

Here's what critics are saying:

IGN Spain - 85 out of 100
"Considering its platform of origin, many people have not played the original. In that case, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy this essential game in this industry."

God is a Geek - 85 out of 100
"Resident Evil 0 looks and sounds better than ever, providing the same great game as before, even if the controls feel somewhat unnatural at times."

Pure Xbox - 80 out of 100
"Resident Evil 0 is a worthy entry in the Resident Evil franchise even though it lacks the scares and originality. It's often overshadowed by the first game, but not giving it a spin would be a grave mistake."

Hardcore Gamer - 80 out of 100
"With all the enhancements in visuals and gameplay elements, Capcom has not only set a precedent for how remasters should be done, but helped excel Resident Evil 0 into being a far more enjoyable horror experience."

Push Square - 80 out of 100
"Resident Evil Zero not only feels fresh 14 years after its original release, but it also showcases a superb remastering effort."

PlayStation Universe - 75 out of 100
"Resident Evil Zero isn't quite up there with the likes of Resident Evil 2 or the remake, but it's still a solid horror romp that fans will want to pick up. And now it looks even better to boot."

GamesRadar+ - 70 out of 100
"The last of the 'classic' Resident Evil games, Zero is now clunky and often infuriating. But the HD conversion looks and sounds superb, and once you get used to its quirks, it's still a class act."

Metro GameCentral - 50 out of 100
"The least scary and least imaginative Resident Evil returns, and although it’s not the worst Resi sequel it certainly is the most boring."

VideoGamer - 50 out of 100
"A wonderful upgrade of one of the most derivative and dull titles in the series."

Resident Evil 0: HD Remake will be available on January 19th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, & Xbox 360. Plan on picking it up? Let us know below!
