John Sayles Writing Django Lives!

Quentin Tarantino may have brought Django back into the public conscious with imitator, Django Unchained, but the original take on the character, as played by Franco Nero, is still out there. And now, he’s coming back for a third official film thanks to Lone Star writer/director John Sayles.

Django Lives! – the third feature after 1966’s blood-stained Civil War epic Django, and 1987’s Django Strikes Again – will be written by Sayles with Nero serving as star and producer.

“John Sayles is a master of literature,” said the actor and producer. “His Lone Star is one of the greatest modern westerns ever shot. He knows how to be exquisitely cultivated and people-oriented at the same time, exactly like another master I’ve worked with, Mr. Orson Welles. And that says a lot.”

There’s no director attached but there’s no saying that Sayles won’t put on the spurs and mosey back out west.
