Homebound Release Date Announced
Space and virtual reality are having another love affair with Swedish dev Quixel's Homebound, which is set in orbit of Earth when disaster strikes.
The trouble isn't that you can't get home down to Earth, no, the trouble is you're going home whether you're alive or dead to enjoy the reunion. It's an over-the-top experience says the studio letting you feel the rush of catastrophe in space.
"In Homebound, players take on the role of a brave astronaut facing a series of catastrophic events in the solitude of deep space, with nothing but nerves of steel and the ship’s AI to rely on for guidance. When disaster strikes and the ship, out of control, begins hurtling towards Earth, their one mission is to make it out safely, and as fast as they can. Dead or alive - you are Homebound."
They promise eye-watering visuals to feast on in this virtual reality game that supports HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Homebound is built using Unreal Engine 4 with motion controller support as well as traditional mouse & keyboard or gamepads. It is a seated VR experience, not room-scale. There's a freeroam mode too.
Homebound releases on PC February 16th, 2017.
