Bethesda Softworks' upcoming re-imagining of the Prey franchise has a new trailer featuring some of the Neuromod powers we can unlock.

Arkane Studios is behind the new direction for Prey which takes us aboard a space station where things have gone wrong - big time. Aliens called Typhon have infected the station but luckily there are unique powers and weapons available to Morgan aboard Talos.

This new Neuromod Research Division looks at the powers we can grant ourselves with just a little eye-jabbing device - not for the squeamish - which include abilities such as remote manipulation of devices, use of super-heated plasma, or kinect blasts for serious destruction. The more 'fun' of the bunch is a mimic stealth ability that lets us take the form of numerous objects, including turrets or even coffee mugs.

“There are many layers to Prey,” says Creative Director Raphael Colantonio. “There’s the shooter aspect, but it’s also an RPG and an adventure. You’ll explore, you’ll fight, you’ll play with powers – both human and alien. You craft your playstyle based on the choices that you make.”

"Morgan is the key subject in an experiment that is meant to alter humanity forever,” says Lead Designer Ricardo Bare. “You awaken aboard a space station called Talos I, which is orbiting around the moon. But when you wake up – when you step out into the main lobby – you immediately see that things have gone terribly wrong. It’s up to you as the player to figure out: How did I get here? What’s going on? How do I survive? And how do I get off this space station?"

Unlike the original game, which was a very linear experience, the new re-imagined Prey is set aboard an open space station with areas free to explore, providing you can overcome obstacles in the way. Player choice also leads to interesting consequences, which Arkane explored well in their Dishonored series.

Prey releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 May 5th, 2017.
