Jake Gyllenhall Shines in First Trailer for Stronger
February’s Patriot’s Day dealt mostly with the aftermath of the tragic 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, as law enforcement officials launched a manhunt to capture the perpetrators, and now, Stronger, which could very well land star Jake Gyllenhaal his first Oscar, deals with the story of one the attendees.
Adapting the novel by Jeff Bauman and Bret Witter, Stronger sees Gyllenhaal play Bauman, a 27-year-old working class Boston native who was at the finish line of the marathon with a sign, hoping to win back his ex-girlfriend Erin (Tatiana Maslany), who was competing.
When the deadly blast occurs, Bauman losses both his legs in the attack. Making the long, arduous journey back towards a normal life, he manages to help authorities to identify one of the bombers – all while wrestling with his own demons.
Stronger will be in cinemas on 22nd September.
