Adapted from Charles Martin's 2010 novel, Idris Elba is talented surgeon Ben, heading to a medical conference who charters a plane alongside photojournalist Alex, played by Kate Winslet, looking to get back for her wedding when bad weather strikes. But the plane crashes, leaving the pair stranded in harsh, snowy conditions. When they realise help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness, pushing one another to endure and discovering strength they never knew possible.
Directed by Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now) and co-starring Dermot Mulroney and Beau Bridges, The Mountain Between Us arrives in cinemas on 20th October.
