Sony has reportedly brought in Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs to work on a live-action Robotech movie.

According to Deadline, Fuchs, who co-wrote Wonder Woman with Allan Heinberg and Zack Snyder, will team up with IT director Andrés Muschietti, who signed up to work on the remake back in July.

Robotech follows mankind's fight against an alien invasion by using giant robots. The original 85-episode anime series aired in the United States in 1985. Since then, the sci-fi franchise has had several film, book and video game adaptations.

There’s no word yet on a release date as Fuchs and Muschietti start working from scratch on the script. There’s also no word on whether Muschetti’s involvement will impact upon the sequel to It, which is also in development.

Sony picked up the rights to Robotech in 2015 with Aquaman director James Wan favourite to helm the movie.
