Beginning with a slew of interesting trivia, the Square Enix E3 event was much awaited after the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Here is what you missed;

  • The show begin with a new Just Cause 3 trailer which shows it off as much more destructive than it ever has been offering players unlimited C4 and grenades. Hundreds of thousands of players are still enjoying the previous Just Cause title but Square-Enix promises to support Just Cause 3 for much longer.
  • Developer Avalanche Studios took to the stage to talk about the game and its new features; Rico is equipped with a wing-suit and multiple grapple lines with manual retract in this 400 square-mile world. The game will launch on December 1st and will see you taking out the dictator of your mother's island home before he dominates the world. Take to land, sea, and air in the 80 vehicles available to you.

  • The next game to be shown was very, very early in the development cycle but PlatinumGames Inc. has joined together with industry veterans to bring a new NieR title to the world.
  • Something else dwells in the darkness, says Lara Croft as she takes to the big screen to reveal the same Rise of the Tomb Raider trailer we caught at Microsoft's show. Following that, Brian Horton introduced a behind the scenes video from the artists at Crystal Dynamics.
  • Square-Enix Montreal arrived to talk about a new mobile title in the vein of Hitman Go. A simple Tomb Raider game reminiscent of the original Playstation titles, Lara Croft Go, will be coming soon to phones and tablets.
  • A montage of titles is shown including Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Life is Strange, and Dragon Quest: Heroes.
  • Shinji Hashimoto appears on stage but, unfortunately, the Translator is nowhere to be heard and Hashimoto disappears before showing the Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer from Sony's conference. We're almost certain the translator muttered 'shit' as he missed his cue but everybody makes mistakes. The game will get more details this Winter as Square-Enix is only announcing it now.
  • Speaking of Final Fantasy VII, the PC version game is still coming back to Playstation 4 but Hashimoto is simply asking for more time, hopefully it will be out for Winter. In other news, Final Fantasy VII is coming to iOS by the end of the Summer if delays don't get in the way.
  • Next on the agenda, Kingdom Hearts series. One fan in particular is rather vocal, in a good way, but it's not Kingdom Hearts 3 that is revealed right away but a turn-based mobile title. It is Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key for iOS and Android and it will link with the story of Kingdom Hearts 3.

  • The excited fan finally got what he wanted and Kingdom Hearts 3 got some gameplay after a short video from Disney staff. Two characters reveal exposition and play chess as Sora takes on some new bubble Heartless in a gorgeous-looking world. Sora has a new outfit and a range of new techniques to explore!
  • Hashimoto then takes to reveal another project that he's working on; World of Final Fantasy. This was also revealed during Sony's conference but details have been revealed; a new director has taken on the project which is set in a completely new universe.
  • He is Hiroki Chiba who explained the series has been around for so long that people might not want to dive into it's wealth of content. World of Final Fantasy is built to bring together ease of us and the series's history. It will offer a new simple but deep experience however, more details are on the way. A release is scheduled for 2016.
  • Hitman will be coming to digital release on December 8 with new hits and contracts released at regular intervals. For example, a target may appear for 48 hours with a single chance to kill. It is a living, breathing world where players will receive hits from around the world. The trailer shows a kill in which IAGO, a nefarious agency, is about to unmask various secret agents and 47 must kill its head man.
  • The game follows classic Hitman style in which you can experiment and work however you want. The world is ever expanding and will never stop challenging you.
  • Next, we're given another short montage of games before the next project reveals itself: Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. The fate of a planet hangs in the balance and only you can save it in 2016. The game will be breaking the notion that JRPGs are just movies by including both dynamic and static cutscenes to improve the whole experience.

  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was up next; running on a new engine with the same team behind it, the world of Adam Jensen has come to life. The game is set two years after the Human Revolution where the augmented people are treated as terrorists, living in ghettos due to a Mechanical Apartheid. Jenson has joined Taskforce 29 to investigate terrorist attacks but he's also a double-agent with suspicions that the Illuminati is actually behind the Taskforce themselves.
  • Jensen is fit with new weapons and equipment such as Nano Blade projectiles and a PEPS gun embedded in his body. How these items upgrade is up to you again and your in-game decisions will actually affect the outcome of the story, unlike the previous title's final sequence.
  • Company president Yosuke Matsuda took to the stage to introduced an English release of the Final Fantasy Portal App as well as a brand new RPG project developed by new studio 'Tokyo RPG Factory'. This game is a console JRPG and a completely new series, it is Project Setsuna and is planned for a 2016 release globally.
  • The company promises to never stop moving forwards and, in a lovely ending, everybody hops back onto the stage to bask in pride of their creations.
