With the holidays quickly wrapping up in 2015, it is time to look to the future. 2016 is already shaping up to be massive for games, and both Sony and Microsoft will be vying for customers to pick their machine over the competitor. We have compiled a list of the five must-have exclusives for each console hitting in 2016. We continue with the Xbox One.

Quantum Break
Developer:
Remedy
Release Date: April 5, 2016

People always stand up and pay attention when Remedy brings a new game to the table. The creators of Max Payne and Alan Wake are known for their unique storytelling, and of course fantastic protagonist names.

Quantum Break molds live-action video to tell two sides of a story in this time-shifting action shooter. Using real actors to portray the characters, this is one experiment I cannot wait to see the results of.

Scalebound
Developer:
Platinum Games
Release Date: 2016

Platinum Games seems to be dipping their hands into everything lately. Working with all the big publishers and console manufacturers delivering visceral action games with pitch-perfect controls.

Scalebound is easily their most ambitious project yet. Featuring co-op combat, a wild protagonist, and pet dragons (who are in fact customizable) this action/RPG looks to fill a void I didn’t know I had.

Crackdown 3
Developer:
Cloudgine
Release Date: 2016

Hearing the announcer say “Agent” is enough to get me excited about a new Crackdown game.

Microsoft has wisely brought back the team responsible for the original Crackdown to bring this third entry to life. Using the touted power of the Cloud, the destruction in the game looks intense. Toss in co-op and we might have the most interesting open-world game known for 2016.

Gears of War 4
Developer:
The Coalition
Release Date: 2016

The Gears of War series has become monumental in Microsoft’s portfolio. The series is right on the heels of Halo, and is certainly one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Developer The Coalition was built just for this franchise, and it looks to be shaping up nicely. Tones of horror return, but we still need to see how it ties into the overall story, and if the characters can be as interesting as previous entries.

Sea of Thieves
Developer:
Rare
Release Date: 2016

It has been a long time coming, but Rare is finally delivering a brand new IP. Sea of Thieves is still somewhat of a mystery, but the premise sounds great. Also any game that Rare works on still sparks that childlike curiosity in my heart.

Rare Replay was a trip down memory lane for me, and I am hoping that Sea of Thieves starts a whole new generation of Rare classics to be cherished over the years.

This is just a sample of the big exclusive games coming to Microsoft’s console in 2016. Still there is enough here to get fans of the Xbox One excited about some of the titles we currently know about for the year.
