As Halloween inches ever closer, a mere 95 days (or less depending on when you read this), the horror dial begins to get turned up. The latest is another 'inspired by true events' tale about a local curse.
The Curse of Downer's Grove is a horror movie with a healthy dose of mystery thrown in. The story follows Chrissie, played by Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), a senior at Downer's Grove high school with graduation rapidly approaching. Unfortunately, the town of Downer's Grove is home to a curse that leaves one senior dead in some gruesome manner every year. Chrissie is convinced this year it's her turn. Not enough to switch schools, because that would ruin the movie, but still pretty convinced
The movie is written by Brett Easton Ellis, the more than slightly insane mind behind American Psycho. It will also co-star Lucas Till, (Havok in X-Men: Days Of Future Past), Penelope Mitchell (Letha from Hemlock Grove) and Tom Arnold (from basically everything).
The Curse of Downer's Grove is due out in cinemas on August 21st in the US, with a release on VOD, blu-ray and DVD following barely a week later on September 1st. Watch the trailer below to start the tingling in your spine now.
