Zoinks! Warner Bros. is bringing Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. team back to the silver screens in late 2018. The plan is for a new animated film that will be directed by Tony Cervone, who has experience with Scooby snacks.

"Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters," said creative president Greg Silverman of Warner Bros.

"As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie."

The past two outings for Scooby and the gang at cinema was 2002 and 2004's live-action movies featuring Freddie Prinze Jr. (Fred), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy) and Linda Cardellini (Velma). The same producers will be involved with the new animated film, which seems keen to get back to more traditional Hanna-Barbera roots.

The new Scooby-Doo film is expected in cinemas September 21st, 2018.
