Dark Times For Humanity in the Latest Transformer: The Last Knight Trailer

Hands up, who can make sense of the plot of Transformers: The Last Knight, the upcoming fifth Transformers film?

No, put your hand down Michael Bay, I’m sure it all makes sense to you but quite where King Arthur, Bumblebee, and totalitarian robots-in-disguise quite fit together is still very much a mystery but, to coin a phrase, there’s more than meets the eye here.

In the latest clip, we see an ED-2o9 alike robot stalking some children through war torn streets, complete with Orwellian posters informing those not crush by giant robots that the giant robots are the bad guys.

According to Michael Bay himself, this will be his last film as a director on the franchise he's steered since 2007, and it finds the relationship between Transformers and humans at an all-time low, with war raging and Optimus Prime still gone, off in space. The answer to saving the future may lie in the past, and humanity will need an unlikely alliance, including Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Sir Edmund Burton (Anthony Hopkins), professor Vivian Wembley (Laura Haddock) and Lt. Colonel William Lennox (Josh Duhamel).

Quite what this all means we’ll have to wait until Transformers: The Last Knight explodes its way into cinemas on 23 June.
