Could David Fincher be about to reunite with his old Fight Club sparring partner for Paramounts World War Z sequel?

Talk of the pair working together on the follow up to the surprisingly successful first movie has been ongoing since August last year.

Not much had been said since, but, as Empire reports, with the arrival of new studio boss Jim Gianopulos (who worked with them both when he was at Fox), it appears that Fincher is ready to commit.

The follow up to the 2013 movie was pulled from release schedules last year due to the chaos surrounding Pitt’s divorce but now it appears things are starting to rise from the dead again, as Fincher is in talks to replace Juan Antonio Bayona, who was lured away to direct the Jurassic World sequel.

While the sequel hasn’t officially been given the go-ahead just yet, Gianopulos is keen to make it one of the first movies he makes while holding the top job, with the film set to go before cameras sometime next year.

Although, there’s been no news of the script, which was redrafted by Utopia’s Denis Kelly, who has previously worked with Fincher on a US adaptation of the Channel Four show for HBO.
