Nintendo will be releasing the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System during the Christmas period this year according to reports.

The SNES mini is a re-release of the classic video game home console from Nintendo that dominated childhood's throughout the 1990s. Much like the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System, this microconsole will come with games pre-installed and support plug-and-play.

Exactly what from the mighty catalogue of SNES titles will make the cut this Holiday remains a secret but the NES mini had 30 built-in titles with 22 of them sharing all regions due to licensing and translations. There's a monstrous list of SNES titles to pick from but any official Nintendo releases are very likely making the final list. Almost 250 games were exclusive to North America and just over 60 to Europe out of the almost 800 official SNES releases.

The NES mini's discontinuation, despite its popularity, is said to be in part because of the push for the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System, which is arguably a far more popular classic retro home console.

Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System should launch this Holiday 2017.
