Stationeers Announced, Soon In Early Access

Dean Hall and his studio Rocketwerkz have announced a space station 'construction and management sim' called Stationeer, and it's coming to Early Access.

This new project was actually inspired by the open-source project Space Station 13 which released as far back as 2003, which is a top-down multiplayer game where people must work together to keep a space station functioning. Stationeers however is both solo and co-operative.

It's also not a top-down experience but seems to be first-person - in fact it gives something of a 'Minecraft in space' vibe by its art style. In Stationeers you'll have to keep a keen eye on numerous complex systems working in tandem from power production, gravity, agriculture and atmospherics. The game from Rocketwerks will first arrive on Steam Early Access.

"I seriously thought after DayZ I wouldn't do Early Access again," Dean Hall told Eurogamer at Rezzed. "But I talked a lot with Tynan Sylvester from RimWorld and Felipe  who made Kerbal Space Program, and I realised it would be totally different if it was made entirely behind closed doors. And I think a lot of my ideas are terrible, so the community are part of filtering that."

Stationeers is in development for PC with no firm release schedule outside of Early Access, which is very soon.
