Joseph Kosinski Is Frontrunner to Director Top Gun 2
Heading down the highway to the danger zone, director Joseph Kosinski will be jump of the deck and shovin’ into overdrive, as he emerges as the frontrunner to director Top Gun 2.
Variety has said that the Oblivion director is in talks to helm the sequel with Maverick himself Tom Cruise meeting with various potential directors, with the aim of having the Top gun sequel ready to fly into production once he finishes work on Mission: Impossible 6. And Kosinski’s vision has apparently impressed Cruise the most.
The latest script by Justin Marks (The Jungle Book) is rumoured to explore drone technology and its impact on the end of the dogfighting era brought so vividly to life by the original film.
Before Top Gun 2 takes off, Tom Cruise will next be seen on the big screen in The Mummy, while Kosinski's next film to see screens is firefighting drama Granite Mountain, out later this year.
