Dancing to its own fantastical tune La La Land has debuted a new trailer focused on the talents of co-star and singer John Legend.

The trailer, based around a snippet of Legend’s song “Start a Fire,” interposing various romantic highlights of the film with the song and footage of Legend (as his character Keith) singing on stage. The trailer also shows various iconic scenes from the movie featuring the likeable leads Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

The clip appears to be pre-empting a potential Best Song campaign for this year’s Oscar ceremony. However, the song isn’t the films signature theme. That title goes to City of Stars,” the tune sung by Gosling himself and featured throughout the film, although it’s possible both could earn nominations (“City of Stars” got a Globe nod but “Start a Fire” didn’t).

La La Land was released in the US on 9th December last year. The film goes on general release in the UK on January 13th.
