Yes, we finally have details on the second Star Wars Anthology movie. On the downside, it won't focus on bounty hunter badass Boba Fett; on the upside, it is going to be about everyone's favourite space smuggler (possibly with the exception of Mal Reynolds) Han Solo!

Now, there had been long circulating rumors that the first star wars anthology movie, which we now know to be Rogue One, would be about Han Solo, so the announcement isn't much of a surprise. Also, following the logic that should be the next star wars anthology to be announced will definitely be Boba Fett.

The movie is set to be written by veteran of Star Wars movies Lawrence Kasdan, along with his son Jon Kasdan and will focus on a fresh faced Han Solo and how he became the rogue, smuggler, and thief that ended up in the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is the Mos Eisley Spaceport.

The film is set to be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the team behind 21 and 22 Jump Street and The Lego Movie. The Kasdans stated: “We’re so excited to be working with Chris and Phil, who will bring a fresh new dimension to the Star Wars Universe. They’re two of the smartest, funniest and most original filmmakers around, and the ideal choice to tell the story of Han Solo, one of the coolest characters in the galaxy.”

Meanwhile, in other Star Wars Anthology news, it has been announced that Rogue One will feature none other than Darth Vader. Now, it should be noted that this second piece of information is just a rumor at the moment.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is due out December 18 2015
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One is due out December 16 2016
Star Wars Episode VIII is due out May 26 2017
Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo is expected May 2018
Star Wars Episode IX is coming 2019

I must say I love how the release dates get more shaky the further out we get, as if Disney isn't sure on dates yet. Either way, it's a great time to be a star wars fan.
