Alice Braga Replaces Rosario Dawson in X-Men Spin Off New Mutants
X-Men spin off New Mutants has had a casting shake up just before it’s due to go before the cameras.
The bad news? Rosario Dawson has departed the project but, in on the bright side, Alice Braga has stepped in to fill the void reports Empire.
Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) is directing the piece which focuses on a group of younger mutants who end up forming a new team, learning to cope with their powers and trying they escape a secret facility where they've been imprisoned.
The cast has begun to take shape with Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams already on board. Joining them will be Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Moonstar and Charlie Heaton as Cannonball.
Braga is taking on Dawson's planned role as Dr. Ceilia Reyes, a mutant and medical doctor who acts as a mentor for the teens and who can also generate a protective bio-field around herself.
New Mutants is due for release on 13 April, 2018 with shooting due to commence in the next couple of weeks.
