Everything We Know About Monster Hunter XX

Hunting monsters is back with Capcom's announcement of Monster Hunter XX, which will likely go by 'Monster Hunter Generations 2' for a western release.

Release

March 18th, 2017 in Japan. There is no current launch window for the west.

The English language version of the original Monster Hunter Generations released around 7 months after the Japanese version launched, so it could be a similar release schedule for the expansion.

The Hunt Continues

Monster Hunter XX is an expansion to the original Monster Hunter X that released in November 2015 in Japan, and later in July 2016 to western fans. It is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS (or is it?) and will support using previous save data from Monster Hunter X - known as Monster Hunter Generations outside Japan - and from Monster Hunter Stories.

The Monster Hunter series is all about hunting down powerful monsters and that isn't stopping as Capcom are introducing a new hub set in a village floated by large balloons, with at least two major monsters being revived and two new ones being added.

G rank quests feature in XX with the appropriate gear to help you survive the challenges.

The Ole Switch-eroo?

Suspicion is being cast on the timing of Monster Hunter XX's release in March considering Nintendo will be launching their new fancy console. There's some speculation a special announcement could happen to see it coming to Nintendo Switch. It might not make the launch but it would be an opportune time to say something. Nintendo are spilling the full reveal beans January 12th, 2017 for Switch and that'll include a gaming line-up.

We'll keep our keen hunter's eyes out for more on Monster Hunter XX.
