Mass Effect: Andromeda NOT For Nintendo Switch

It has been confirmed - in case any Mass Effect or Nintendo fans were holding out - that the latest Mass Effect: Andromeda won't be releasing for Nintendo Switch.

You might have thought they'd sneak out a Switch release given that it's window for launch is very close to Nintendo's latest play-it-on-the-go console. However that bubble is now burst as BioWare's Michael Gamble confirmed 'no such plans'.

Concerning the release date for Mass Effect: Andromeda - Xbox Live Rewards has slapped March 31st on the BioWare sci-fi RPG, though the studio or publisher EA has yet to nail down a firm date. Fans were a little worried after EA made it clear they'd delay the game further should BioWare request more time, but the development team appear confident they're on track for Spring.

It isn't too surprising there's to be no Switch launch given that it doesn't hold up against the might of Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or the average gaming PC these days. Nintendo is still yet to reveal the official technical specs for the Switch. Gamble did offer a glimmer of hope for the future... maybe.

“We’re not planning on it. If the Switch launches and everyone’s just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows," mused BioWare.

Such a version would require some significant sacrifices to the game to run efficiently and smoothly. BioWare not long ago showcased a special 4K tech demo for the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Mass Effect: Andromeda is currently scheduled for release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation this Spring 2017.
