Dear Diane, it’s 9 in the evening, the details have been scarce about this new Twin Peaks revival but Peter Sarsgaard has been added to the cast and the coffee is as black as midnight on a moonless night.

David Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost have been keeping a tight leash on what we do and do not know; the location at Black Lodge is surrounded by these trees…I must ask what kind of trees these are.

Sarsgaard will join the show in a mysterious recurring role along with returning cast members Kyle MacLachlan, Ray Wise, Sheryl Lee and Sherilyn Fenn. Amanda Seyfried, Robert Knepper and Balthazar Getty are among the new additions. And these things continue to trouble me. And I'm speaking now not only as an agent of the Bureau but also as a human being.

Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost are shooting the series now in Washington state, with 18 episodes planned for the Showtime cable network at some point in 2017.

And to keep everyone intrigued, the channel has put out a tiny teaser, featuring footage of Michael J. Anderson’s Man from Another Place dancing in the Red Room, though the footage is from the original series.

Confused? Don’t worry, you’re supposed to be…
