Matt Reeves Confirmed to Direct The Batman

He was in, he was out and now, finally, Matt Reeves has been confirmed as the man to sit himself down in the recently vacated director’s chair for The Batman.

Reeves was the man tipped to direct the standalone movie after star Ben Affleck decided to stick to just a co-development role. However, even though talks were underway, rumours suddenly broke that he had removed himself from the running. Now, it seems, he’s back and will take on the challenge of bringing the Bat to the big screen once again.

In a statement to Variety, the Cloverfield director said: “I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honoured and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen."

Interestingly, the statement makes no mention of his Batman, Ben Affleck, who was rumoured to be looking for an exit from the movie and the DCEU. The film, which is written by Argo's Chris Terrio, has no confirmed release date.
