Team Ninja Collaborates with Square-Enix on Arcade 'Dissidia: Final Fantasy' on Gutted Playstation Hardware
A few weeks ago, Square-Enix promised news on the upcoming arcade-exclusive 'Dissidia Final Fantasy' title and today, they have delivered. At an event in Tokyo, Square-Enix unleashed a brand new CGI trailer as well as a handful of interesting details about the game.
What we currently know is that the game will be a three-on-three fighter, developed specifically for Japanese arcades. Today's announcement brought forward the news that Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja will be taking up co-development roles in the creative process, working with custom technology built from the guts of a Playstation 4.
The tech hints at the possibility of a home console release later down the line, however, Square-Enix producer Ichiro Hazama has made it clear that 'Dissidia Final Fantasy' will only come to consoles after a year of arcade exclusivity.
The game itself will feature over 50 characters spanning the 28 year series which contains over 50 games including Cloud Strife, Razma and Y'shtola.
